We usually visit local clients at their home to discuss requirements, and measure the location. Normally a rough estimate is produced free of charge. If significant special designing is required, we will invite them to enter into a design contract where a design fee is agreed in advance. This is not always required and depends on the amount of time we expect to put into it. For a small project it will typically be £50.
The 3D CAD software we use has unlimited design capability, it is not a package which will only cope with pre-sets.
Advantages over pencil and paper include:
- 2D and 3D: precise measurements at all times
- 2D and 3D: zoom to view at the required level of detail, including the use of layers and other techniques for further clarity.
- 3D: the virtual model may be examined from various view-points, assisting visualisation for both the client and the designer.
- e-mail communication to make more decisive revisions
- drawing data may be used to create automated cut-list saving time, material, errors and energy.
Occasionally we may withdraw the design service at times when we are especially busy to enable us to concentrate on work in progress.
We are currently offering 2D designs free of charge.
3D CAD design enables virtual prototyping which helps to achieve ideal solutions for the individual. This can be time-consuming but often can be reduced by starting from a previous design and using the library of parts we have accumulated.
